Natural Sore Throat Remedies

Number 1 – Saline Water

A saline water gargle is one of the best natural remedies for a sore throat. This is a proven and trusted remedy for good reason. It works.

To use the gargle simply add ¼ teaspoon of sea salt to half glass of warm water. Stir to dissolve and gargle with this solution three times a day.

Saline has natural healing properties.  It neutralizes the acidity produced by viruses and bacteria. This acid burns and annoys our throat and is one cause of those scratchy raspy coughs. Saline Gargle will soothe the inflammation, swelling and pain.

Saline water gargle will soothe your throat and you will feel it almost instantly. Remember don’t swallow the saline.

Gargle by swirling the saline around in your mouth and throat. Then spit the liquid in the sink or down the loo! We don’t want additional sodium in the body and it’s pretty nasty tasting!

Make a fresh saline solution each time you want to gargle. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention confirms the need for saline water during periods of sore throat.

Number 2 – Baking Soda Water

Another gargle for sore throats is made with baking soda.

National Cancer Institute studies suggest adding baking soda to the normal saline gargle is more effective.

Combine ¼ tsp baking soda, 1 cup warm water and ¼ tsp of sea salt.

This combination is a winner for killing bacteria and relieving sore throat symptoms.

Baking Soda Gargle prevents further growth of infection-causing organisms. It is recommended you gargle with this solution every three hours.
