This is the first of 8 Dinner Party themed posts. All of them divine and fabulously for friends. You are not going to be munching mashed potatoes, gritty ham or soggy gravy covered vegetables. And you certainly won’t need to order a pizza!

Healthy And Delicious Cinnamon and Cumin Infused Cranberry Spritzer

This is a truly festive beverage, in fact is Christmas in a glass. It is a healthy and delicious way to celebrate the holiday season. The ingredients are classic christmas flavors. The combination of orange, cranberry and cinnamon are complemented by the spicy notes from the cumin.
For the Adult guests add a little vodka to really get the holiday started!
Or of course skip the booze and serve up a pleasant mocktail that all the family can enjoy. The choice is yours! Cheers!

Ingredients
  

  • cranberries1 cup cranberries fresh or frozen
  • honey¼ cup honey
  • water½ cup water
  • cumin seeds2 tbsp cumin seeds whole, toasted
  • cinnamon sticks4 cinnamon sticks
  • cranberry juice3 cups cranberry juice unsweetened
  • oranges2 oranges medium, organic, cut into wedges
  • vodka½ cup vodka optional
  • sparkling water3 cups sparkling water

For The Garnish

  • cinnamon sticks1 cinnamon stick
  • rosemary6 rosemary sprigs

Instructions
 

  • Add the 1 cup cranberries, ¼ cup honey, ½ cup water, 2 tbsp cumin seeds, and 4 cinnamon sticks to a small saucepan. Place on a medium heat. Gently heat and stir occasionally, for 8-10 minutes. Ensure that the honey is completely melted and you notice the spices have become intensely fragrant. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly.
    1 cup cranberries, ¼ cup honey, ½ cup water, 2 tbsp cumin seeds, 4 cinnamon sticks
  • Transfer to a large glass, or ceramic, punch bowl. Add the 3 cups cranberry juice, 2 oranges, and the 1/2 cup vodka, (if you are using it ). Cover and refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours, but it is even better if left in the fridge overnight.

  • Once the mix is thoroughly chilled, remove from refrigerator. Remove the orange wedges and squeeze each of them into the bowl, and then discard the orange peel. Strain the mixture through muslin cloth or a fine mesh strainer and discard any solids.

To Serve

  • Fill your serving glasses with ice and then pour in your seasoned cranberry mix. Fill each glass to about a third. Then top up each glass using the chilled 3 cups sparkling water and give a gentle stir to combine.

  • Taste and sweeten with additional honey, if desired. Garnish with 1 cinnamon stick and the 6 rosemary sprigs. Serve immediately.
