What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a basic human need, it is the ability to be fully present, to be aware of exactly where we are and exactly what we are doing, but to do this in a way that we do not over-react or become over-whelmed by what’s going on around us.

While mindfulness is something we all naturally possess, it’s more readily available to us when we practice it on a daily basis.

Whenever you bring awareness to what you’re directly so that you are experiencing via your senses, or to your state of mind via your thoughts and emotions, you’re being mindful. There is growing research that shows that when you train your brain to be mindful, you’re actually remodeling the physical structure of your brain.

What is meditation?

Meditation is an exploration. It is not fixed and is not a destination. It is a state of being where you are open to possibilities. People often try to clear their mind when they meditate. This isn’t possible. The mere thought of clearing your mind actually activates your mind with thoughts of trying to clear your mind! Not helpful!

When you meditate your mind doesn’t become free of thought, it doesn’t become undistracted. It instead enters a special place where your experienced moments become the focus, they become the only experience you focus on. When we meditate we move into the world of sensation. The air on our skin the aroma in the room. We enter the world of emotions where we can experience them safely, whethet that is love, hate, or desire and the word of creative imaginings where it is not weird to see or experience anything. It is the world of spirit, the world of astral and the world of connection.

When we combine both Mindfulness and Meditation we enter a space that allows us to suspend judgment and unleash our natural curiosity. The experience enables us to approach the experience with warmth and kindness, and show this to ourselves and others.

How do I practice mindfulness and meditation?

Mindfulness is available to us in any given moment, whether through meditation, a body scan, or a mindful moment breath practice. It is giving yourself time to focus within, to focus externally and to listen, to understand and to create. To create the you of your future.
