Exercise
Qi Gong, or Chi Kung, is an ancient Taoist system of movement that enhances energy, promotes vitality, and leads to greater balance of mind and body. Qigong is a wonderful form of mindfulness through movement.
Qi gong means “working with energy” and has its roots alongside traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and tai chi. Qigong draws upon the use of breath, gentle movements and mindfulness techniques that cleanse, strengthen and circulate chi (qi or life force).
Other exercise options:
- Cardio: Cardio exercises are great for burning calories and fat. Some examples of cardio exercises include running, swimming, biking, and dancing.
- Strength training: Strength training helps to build muscle, which can boost your metabolism and help you burn more calories at rest. Some examples of strength training exercises include lifting weights, using resistance bands, and doing bodyweight exercises like push-ups and squats.
- Interval training: Interval training is a type of cardio exercise that involves alternating between short bursts of high-intensity exercise and periods of lower-intensity exercise. Interval training can be a very effective way to burn calories and fat.
- Yoga: Yoga is a great way to improve your flexibility, strength, and balance. It can also help to reduce stress, which can contribute to weight gain.
- Pilates: Pilates is a low-impact exercise that focuses on core strength and flexibility. It can help to improve your posture and reduce back pain.
The best exercise for you will depend on your individual fitness level and goals. If you are new to exercise, start with a low-intensity activity and gradually increase the intensity and duration of your workouts as you get fitter. It is also important to find an activity that you enjoy so that you are more likely to stick with it.
